Day 9 observed a conference on the theme “International Conference on Realizing Asian Century: Understanding International Law & Governance” and also the opening of Asian Association of Law Professors (AALP) followed by Paper Presentations in which 44 Presenters including the delegates of the Kathmandu Dialogue and Professors from around Asia presented paper at the Dhulikhel Resort.



The opening ceremony started with a short video paying tribute to Sh. N.R. Madhava Menon, thereafter Prof. Prakash K. C. addressed the gathering of Asian Professors and the Kathmandu Dialogue delegates by his welcome speech, and this was followed by the Speech of Special Guests from Pakistan, Nepal & Bangladesh by Mr. Md. Ismail Khan (From Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies, Pakistan) and Prof. Ramkrishna Timalsena (From National Law college, Nepal), Professor Zakir Hosain (Chittagong Independent University, Bangladesh) respectively.
The opening ceremony observed four Keynote Speeches by eminent Professors from India, Bangladesh and China. Prof. Kanwal DP Singh (Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University) Prof. Saroj Vyas (From Fairfield Institute of Management & Technology, India), Prof. Md. Mizanur Rehman (Former Chairmen, National Human Rights Commission of Bangladesh), Prof. Liu Junrong (Leshan Normal University).
The Inaugural address was given by Prof. (Dr.) Yubaraj Sangroula who addressed the AALP & KD delegates, and he talked about the Asian Value System and the need for AALP. This was followed by the paper presentation, which was divided into two parts, Session 1 to 3 were conducted parallelly from 11:30 – 1:05 and Session 4 to 6 were conducted parallelly post lunch from 2:30 – 4:25, each session consisted of 6- 8 Paper Presenters and had different themes, namely:

⦁ Parallel Session 1 was chaired by Prof. Md. Mizanur Rehman and the theme of the Session was “Application of International Law in Asia – Effectiveness in South Asian Region”.
⦁ Parallel Session 2 was chaired by Prof. Kanwal DP Singh and the theme of the Session was “Geo- Politics to Geo-economics – Asian Perspective”.
⦁ Parallel Session 3 was chaired by Prof. Sanoj Rajan and the theme of the Session was “Rackling Climate Change in Asia”
⦁ Parallel Session 4 was chaired by Prof. Yubaraj Sangroula and the theme of the Session was “Trans-Himalayan Development – Belt and Road Initiative | International Law and Development – Addressing Poverty in Asia”.
⦁ Parallel Session 5 was chaired by Prof. Zakir Hosain and the theme of the Session was “TWAIL and Asian Research & Is there an Asian Model of Governance”.
⦁ Parallel Session 6 was chaired by Prof. Geeta Pathak and the theme of the Session was “Human Rights and Asia”.
